Erwin Riegler was born in Neunkirchen, Austria. He received the Dipl-Ing. degree in Technical Physics (summa cum laude) in 2001 and the Dr. techn. degree in Technical Physics (summa cum laude) in 2004 from Vienna University of Technology. From 2005–2006, he accepted a post-doc position at the Institute for Analysis and Scientific Computing, Vienna University of Technology, in the special research program (SFB) AURORA - Advanced Models, Applications and Software Systems for High Performance Computing. From 2007–2009, he was a senior researcher at the Telecommunications Research Center Vienna (FTW). Since 2009, he became affiliated with the Institute of Telecommunications at Vienna University of Technology. From 2009–2010, he was a post-doc in the research project Distributed Information Processing for Spatio-Temporal Fields in Wireless Sensor Networks. Since 2011, he is the principal investigator of the WWTF project NOWIRE - Noncoherent Wireless Communications over Doubly Selective Channels.
