EUSIPCO-2004 will be held in Vienna. Located on the banks of the river Danube, Austria’s romantic capital is alive with music of Schubert, Mozart and Johann Strauss, and its architecture will keep you spellbound.

Enjoy the grandeur of Emporer Franz Josef’s “Ringstraße”, the circular boulevard around the first district which surrounds the Hofburg Palace, State Opera House, Parliament, Burgtheater and numerous museums. A stroll over the medieval lanes and cobblestone squares around St. Stephen’s Cathedral will conjure up images of Vienna’s past whilst the delicious scent of coffee and Viennese pastries will entice you into the many inviting cafes. In the evening, visit a traditional “Heurigen” winetavern to taste local food and the season’s young wine or enjoy the amusements in the lively Prater. Be sure not to miss a ride on the giant ferris wheel, famous for the scene in “The Third Man.” Further afield, Schönbrunn Palace, the summer retreat of Empress Maria Theresia with its impressive gardens, is worth a visit.

The conference site at Vienna University of Technology is located within walking distance from Vienna’s main attractions. The university is surrounded by numerous historical buildings and exhibition sites like the Künstlerhaus, the Wien Museum, the Sezession, and the Wiener Musikverein with the famous Golden Concert Hall. Another landmark is the impressive baroque Karlskirche (St. Charles’ Church). The conference site is near Karlsplatz, an important underground railway and tramway station offering quick connections to other sights of Vienna like the Rathaus (City Hall), the Hofburg (Imperial Palace), the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Museum of Fine Arts), and Schönbrunn Palace.
