Amr was born in 1983 in Cairo, Egypt. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering and Master’s degree in Engineering Physics both from Cairo University, Giza, Egypt, in 2005 and 2009, respectively.

Amr worked as A teaching assistant at Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University 2006-2009. In the same period, he wroked as a part-time software engineer at SySDSoft Inc. where he participates in the system design, software implementation and testing of cutting-edge wireless communication standards such as WiFi, WiMAX and LTE. Also, he worked as an Instructor, Embedded Systems Platform, Information Technology Institute (ITI) in 2009.

From February 2010 until September 2010 he was an intern at the Institute of Communications and Radio-Frequency Engineering, Vienna University of Technology.

He is currently a Ph.D. student in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech under the supervision of Prof. Thomas Hou. Amr’s research interests are in the area of optimization and algorithm design for wireless networks.
