Bastian Knerr studied electrical engineering at the Saarland University in Saarbruecken, Germany, and at the University of Technology in Hamburg-Harburg, Germany. He finished his diploma thesis on the evaluation of algorithms for carrier frequency synchronisation of base stations in a cellular OFDM system and graduated in 2002. From 2002 to 2003 he worked in the field of image processing and 3D computer vision for the company UZR GmbH & Co. KG in Hamburg, Germany. In June 2003 he joined the Christian-Doppler Laboratory for Design Methodology of Signal Processing Algorithms and finished his dissertation about heuristic optimisation methods for system partitioning in hardware/software co-design in 2008.
End of 2008 until beginning of 2010 he entered the Software Development Industry affiliated with freiheit.com technologies, Hamburg, Germany. Hehas been responsible in web and database development for large scale e-commerce systems.
Currently, Bastian Knerr is working at the DESY (Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron) in Hamburg as Software Engineer in the MKS (Maschine, Kryogenik, Supraleitung) group mainly addressing the process automation of cryogenic and superconductivity controls.
