Martin Mayer was born 1986 in Feldkirch, Austria. He went to a technical high school (HTL Rankweil) where he graduated in 2006. He finished his bachelor degree in electrical engineering and information technology in 2011 and his master degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in telecommunications in 2013. As a project assistant for the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Wireless Technologies for Sustainable Mobility, he worked towards his PhD (Dr. techn.) thesis “Radio Frequency Identification with Compressed Sensing” which he successfully defended with honors in September 2016.
During spring 2016, he was a visiting researcher at the Institute of Digital Communications at the University Edinburgh for two months, where he worked on approximate message passsing recovery algorithms with Prof. Mike Davies.
After leaving the institute of telecommunications, he started his industry career as an Electronic Design Engineer at Leica Geosystems in November 2016.
