National Instruments (NI) Engineering Impact Awards is an annual technical paper contest. Each year, engineers, scientists, and researchers from around the globe submit papers featuring their most impactful and technically challenging applications created with National Instruments software and hardware.

At the recent NI Week in Austin (Texas), USA, during May 21-24, 2018, Thomas Blazek, Golsa Ghiaasi, and Christoph Mecklenbräuker received two prestigious awards from National Instruments for their application entitled „Replicating Urban Vehicular Network Performance in Lab Settings”. This applications runs in realtime on the software-defined radio platform USRP RIO.

Both the Institute of Telecommunications at TU Wien and the Department of Electronic Systems, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway (where Golsa is affiliated) are members of the so-called Lead User Programme of NI.

This application won both the “Engineering Impact Award 2018″ in the category „Transportation”, and the Application of the Year 2018 award.
