UE slant angle

    Dear Martin,

I was going through the 3D model code, and I have a question regarding the UE slant angle. I read this:

LTE_config.UE_antenna_slant_angle: polarization slant angle in []. Defined for specific polarization mode as
    – ULA: slant angle of 0
    – XPOL: slant angle of 90

My question is: Is it a must to use 0 degrees for ULA, and 90 degrees for XPOL? Will it give me an inaccurate result if I don’t use those specific angles?

Also, could you please tell me what the position of the UE is when its tilt is 0 degrees? Is it vertical? Is it horizontal? What is the position of the UE respecting the eNodeB antenna?

Thank you for your help and your time.

    Best regards,

    Dear Oscar,

The polarization settings are based on 3GPP TR 36.873 for ULA and XPOL. The simulator is very flexible and you can try different antenna settings at both eNodeB and UE.

A slant angle of 0° means vertical polarization while 90° means horizontal polarization.
